The Young Invincibles:   Bewildered about Buying  Health Insurance
“ Insurance companies worry that young people, especially young men, already think they are invincible, and they are bewildered about the health-care reform in general and exchanges in particular. They may tune out, forego purchasing health insurance and opt to pay a penalty instead when their taxes come due.

Ezekial Emanuel, M D:” Health  Exchanges Will Need Young Invincibles,”   Wall Street Journal, May 7, 2013
Let’s see how  the young male invincible reacts, five months from now, on October 1, 2013, when the time comes to decide whether or not to buy health insurance,  and when he confronts these facts; :one,  16% unemployment among his cohort:: two,, health premiums costing multiple  times  more what he would pay in fines for not buying health insurance.  Politically,  the issue is far from clear:  among young males, 18 to 29, 23% more voted for Obama than Romney .  October 1 will be crunch time the young invincibles.  We shall see if his allegiance to President Obama and his signature domestic achievement holds in view of the economic realities.

Tweet:  On 10/1/13,  young voters  must decide to buy health insurance or pay a fine. The insurance is much more costly than the fine.
